Blue Planet Investment Trust plc (LSE:BLP) listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1999. The Trust’s investment policy at that time was strictly to invest in the financial sector only. Due to this specialty focus, the Trust performed exceptionally well in the years leading up to the 2008/09 financial crisis. Following the financial crisis, it was decided to merge with other Blue Planet managed investment trusts in June 2012, resulting in what is known today as Blue Planet Investment Trust plc.
As part of this process, the investment policy was expanded to include all sectors globally with the objective of achieving a combination of capital growth and income.
