With several years of experience in the UK Financial Services industry, Dean Bucknell acted as Chief Executive Officer of Blue Planet Investment Management Ltd, Malta from 1st April 2008 to 16th June 2011. He continues to act as Executive Director of the Company.

From 2002 to his appointment in 2008, he served in a variety of roles with Blue Planet Investment Advisers Ltd in the UK, latterly as Operations Director. He commenced his career with the Scottish Midland Co-operative Society as a retail management accountant.  He is a graduate of Edinburgh University and has a BEng with Honours in Civil Engineering.
 
Dean Bucknell is also a Director of Blue Planet Holdings Ltd, Blue Planet Financials Growth & Income Investment Trusts Nos. 1- 10 plc, Blue Planet International Financials Investment Trust plc, Blue Planet Global Financials Master Fund & Blue Planet Global Financials Fund. He is the Honorary Treasurer for the Anglican Chaplaincy in Malta & Gozo and was a Trustee and Honorary Treasurer for the English Speaking Union (Scotland) for two years, prior to his move to Malta.

 

Dr Kay Bendall was appointed an Executive Director of Blue Planet Investment Management Ltd in October 2010. She joined Blue Planet Investment Advisers Ltd in 2003 after a distinguished career in telecoms and research in both Western and Eastern Europe. She held senior management level positions in Motorola in the UK and Czech Republic. She also held research fellow posts at the University of Reading from where she completed her PhD in Computer Science. She has a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from the University of Warwick.  In transitioning to investment management she completed an MSc in Accounting and Finance at Napier University with a distinction, receiving a programme medal as the best performing student. She is a director of Blue Planet Investment Advisers Ltd, Blue Planet Investment Management Ltd and Blue Planet Holdings Ltd.

David joined Blue Planet Investment Management Ltd as an Executive Director on 1st April 2008.

In 1975, David joined Barclays Bank Malta and after qualifying as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, moved to Toronto, Canada where he formed part of the Treasury and Private Banking divisions of Chase Manhattan Bank and Midland Bank.

In 1989, David returned to Malta and joined Charts Ltd where he helped to expand the Wealth Management side of the business.  Charts has maintained a leading presence in the market.

 

Daniel Colabufo, B.Com(Hons) Banking & Finance

Daniel Colabufo joined Blue Planet in 2008 as an Investment Analyst. He has previously studied in the UK and also recently at the University of Malta where he achieved a 2nd Upper classification for his B.Com (Hons) in Banking and Finance. Daniel’s interest in the banking and finance sector with particular focus on the equities markets was heightened from his Honours dissertation which won the first prize and focused on forecasting financial market volatility and the recurring irrational exuberance or apathy met in the financial market under extreme market conditions. Daniel also won the University of Malta Portfolio Management competition for 2008 which was run in conjunction with Bank of Valletta. On a professional level, he has succesfully completed his Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualification, level 1 and level 2 of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme. Daniel is fluent in English and Italian.

 

Daniel was promoted to Portfolio Manager on 1st June 2011.
